Words

The New York branch of Dover Street Market opened its doors at the end of last year, and photographer Ari Marcopoulos was invited to explore and capture the space. The resulting images offer perhaps the broadest and most detailed look of the store seen online so far, and are accompanied by a brief and strange Q&A with the photographer himself.

Richard Serra: Drawings for The Courtauld

Words

Originally scheduled to run until today, this exhibition, at London's Courtauld Gallery in the north wing of Somerset House, will now be open for another week. It comprises 12 drawings created specifically for the show and while the scale of these works does not compare with Serra's iconic sculptures, the dense compositions – produced on stacks of mylar plastic with black litho crayon – are no less innovative or engaging.

Mingei: Are You Here? at Pace London

Info

Pace London
6-10 Lexington Street
London W1F 0LB
October 15, 2013 - January 18, 2014

Words

While group shows can sometimes be hit and miss, it's always a format that has the potential to be something special. It's not often that you visit two such exhibitions in as many weeks, but I've recently been fortunate enough to do so. The first, the Gagosian's who's who of contemporary heavyweights, The Show is Over, has now come to an end. The second, however, Pace London's decidedly more modest yet no less successful, Mingei: Are You Here?, is open until the 18th of January. Click on the link below for more details, and if you're in the capital between now and then, don't miss it.

Regular Inventory contributor Marcelo Gomes recently shot a series of photographs at the Glass House, Philip Johnson's iconic home in New Canaan, Connecticut. This beautiful and vibrant essay was shot to accompany an Illustrated Examples piece about the Harvard Five, a group of mid-century architects who lived and worked in the town, in the latest issue of Inventory magazine.

Words

Stockholms Fotoantikvariat is a beautiful bookshop and gallery space, unsurprisingly located in Sweden's Stockholm. The shop stocks a highly edited selection of rare and unique photography books from international and local artists. While the prices might be tough to swallow, in many cases you don't have too much of a choice, if the title is one you're after.
