Clarks Originals x 6876

01

Images

01. Desert Boot.
02. Desert Trek.

Words

This two-part collaboration between Clarks and 6876 was introduced last October with suede editions of the Desert Boot and Desert Trek. Today marks the release of their second set of shoes together: the same classic silhouettes, subtly reinterpreted in brown and black pebble leather. The co-branded models are limited to 500 pairs per style and while restraint is clearly the key here, a vegetable-tanned runner board adds something special to their premium appearance.

NikeLab Air Force 1 Low

01

Image

01. Premium leather upper and liner.

Words

I'd be curious to know how many versions of the Air Force 1 have been released by Nike since 1982. Over the years, the brand has attempted many times to elevate the icon with premium materials while maintaining its original aesthetic, and more often than not it hasn't been a total success. The recent NikeLab release, however, is very, very good. There are low and mid options in white, black, navy and red, all featuring deluxe uppers and Phylon cushioning. The only detail I might reconsider is the clear sole but as it's out of sight, it's easy to overlook.

NikeLab Roshe Daybreak x Fragment

01

Image

01. Lightweight nylon and synthetic upper.

Words

I was never really a fan of Nike's Roshe Run model, which has taken over the streets in the past few years, but the recent Roshe LD-1000 and now the Roshe Daybreak have upped the ante. This classic colourway, produced in collaboration with Fragment Design, is tough to fault, while the waffle-inspired outsole, full-length Phylon midsole, and Ortholite sock liner combine for an extremely comfortable ride.

Salomon S-Lab Speed

01

Image

01. All black.

Words

Salomon make the best trail running shoes. At any race they're probably being worn by over 50% of the field, but adventurous fashion consumers have been taking the brand's footwear to more urban arenas in the last couple of years. The Broken Arm in Paris have an exclusive offering of three models in all black, the S-Lab Speed being the most rugged of the trio.

Sacai x Hender Scheme Leather Lace-Up Boots

01

Images

01. Black.
02. Natural.

Words

The rugged elegance of these boots from Sacai's Spring-Summer '16 men’s line proves that the brand made the right choice in working with Hender Scheme on a small selection of footwear this season. The subsequent collaboration sees the familiar work boot silhouette given a unique update in two beautiful leathers.

01. Kiln fired in Kurume, Japan.

Words

This brown duck cloth sneaker with a black sole and toe cap is one of the best versions the Shoes Like Pottery low top I think I've seen, but it's also the hardest to find. Good Weaver has the model exclusively available, alongside other enticing footwear produced in the Kurume region by the likes of Doek and Sols.

Red Wing 9096 Caverly Chukka Boot

01

Image

01. Black Esquire leather.

Words

I recently discovered Red Wing’s Caverly Chukka, a style which doesn't seem to be offered by many of the brand's stockists, and was duly impressed. The timeless two-eyelet boot fits my utilitarian requirements for everyday leather footwear, and would work seamlessly with any casual jeans and T-shirt uniform. Made in Minnesota on the Postman last with a Gro-Cord Medallion sole, I can only imagine how incredible they'd look after years of regular wear.

Words

The Margaret Howell Autumn-Winter '16 men's collection was presented at the brand's Wigmore Street store in London today. A mix of mainline and MHL pieces combined to create an effortless balance between the tailored and utilitarian styles that often define each label. Highlights included six-button double breasted jackets, long belted Mackintosh coats, and Dainite-soled Chelsea boots, while two-tone silk scarves and high-waisted cropped trousers formed a consistent thread throughout.
