There are options for all occasions in brown and black smooth leathers, and suede versions of the Genet chukka boot in three different colours. As part of their ongoing 35th anniversary celebrations, Stussy have worked with Converse on two pairs of 1970s Chuck Taylor All Stars, both of which use the California brand's iconic Tom Tom pattern as their base. To mark the release of these special edition models, Liam MacRae shot this short video piece in Malibu, featuring a local steel pan drummer, as the sun set over the Pacific.

J.M. Weston Suede Derby Shoes

01

01. Goodyear welted.

Words

The list of long-established footwear companies making incredibly well-built shoes in Europe is so overwhelming, that choosing between the options is a daunting prospect. While it seems like the majority are concentrated in the UK and Italy, there are also a handful of great brands based in France. One such outfit is the Anglo-sounding J.M. Weston, and this suede derby model exhibits expert craftsmanship alongside no-frills styling. With simplicity at its core, the classic lace-up stands as one of the best looking and seemingly under the radar luxury shoes I’ve seen in a long time.

01. Banana stompers.

Words

Tomorrow in Montreal’s Plateau neighbourhood Dime will open a pop-up shop in collaboration with Vans to celebrate the release of their Slip-On Pro model. It's the first time the two brands have worked together, and Dime's first foray into footwear. Featuring UltraCush HD Cushioning, Pro Vulc Lite construction and DURACAP reinforcements, the shoe itself is made for performance, but its pared-back aesthetic is sure to be a success on and off the grip tape.

Spalwart Special Mid

01

01. Cotton canvas and rubber.

Words

There is such an abundance of white canvas sneakers available that unless you’re absolutely committed to wearing one style, choosing between them is very difficult. I've seen an array of Spalwart footwear as the brand's profile has risen over the last few seasons, but I don’t often come across this straightforward monochromatic mid model. Now that they’re firmly in my mind, it would be hard for me to consider other options as this pair offers everything one might want, right down to being produced with the original 1950s moulds and machinery.

Red Wing Heritage Style No. 9197: 6-Inch Postman

01

Image

01. Black Chaparral leather.

Words

This newly designed style based on Red Wing's ever-popular Postman Oxford has just been released at a handful of retailers. Favoured by mail carriers and policemen for its comfort and durability, the original 101 model debuted in 1954 and went on to become one of the best selling shoes in the brand's history. The 9197 takes this reference and applies it to a 6-inch boot. The cushion crepe wedge sole and goodyear welt construction are retained, but the added ankle coverage makes for a unique take on a time-tested Red Wing classic.
