Drake's Gingham Silk Scarves

01

Images

Words

While the summer scarf might not be an essential for everyone, Drakes continue to expand their warm weather range this season with a nice collection of silk gingham options. When it comes to gingham, it’s pretty tough to beat red or navy, so it’s no surprise that these are my favorites. C’HC’M’ just received these along with some nice polka dot patterned scarves as well.

Yuketen Spring Items

01

Details

—01. Canvas Canoe Pack & Ring Boots.

Words

Present are the most recent shop to receive a couple of Yuketen’s spring items. The Ring Boots and canvas Canoe pack and a couple of triangle packs are all nice looking spring pieces that haven’t been bought by too many accounts this season. The bags are made with a really nice tough fabric and the veggie tanned leather is the perfect accent.

In My Bag

Items

Wm. J. Mills & Co. tote, Louis Vuitton Passport holder, Canon F1 35mm, Woolrich shorts, The Real McCoy's army hat, Ray Ban Clubmasters, Saint James socks, Papermate pens, Apartamento, HUGE, Moleskin, Muji card holder (with cards inside), iPod, Blackberry & Malin+Goetz moisturizer.

Words

Bringing back the ‘In my Bag’ post once more, we recently shot some articles for our spring issue and each of us took photos of our ‘bags’. Some things are in there every day and somethings aren’t, but most of them are mine and get used regularly. The whole concept of the bag posts was to offer insight into people’s personal tastes and how the things they find important or at least aesthetically pleasing. There probably aren’t many surprises in my bag other than maybe my passport holder and the lack of something by Engineered Garments, but each thing serves its purpose and looks fairly nice, especially those Papermate pens.

Makr News

Words

The Makr brand has been continuing to impress us with the new products; working with Horween and a couple new tote bags are just a couple of the reasons. Besides the products Jason Gregory, the man behind the brand, has been publishing a blog on the brand’s website. Sometimes it’s directly related to new products, design or manufacturing, but lots of the time it’s simply inspiring images and nice photography. Recently he posted some behind the scenes images which are worth a look. The photography is beautiful and the overall curation of the blog is quite nice and one for the RSS.

Stormy Kromer by Steven Alan

01

Images

—01. Cotton twill.
—02. Chambray.
—03. Cotton plaid.

Words

Usually known for its fall weather setting, Stormy Kromer’s signature hat has been nicely re-appropriated for the spring by Steven Alan. Using a nice variety of chambray, plaid and lightweight cotton, the hat is a nice looking option that might not otherwise have been suitable for the spring. It’s more than likely available at Steven Alan shops in the US, but also at Nitty Gritty overseas.

Anachronorm Canvas Tote Bag

01

Images

—01. Red & green options.

Words

Anachronorm are more known for their rough wearing jackets, trousers and shirting but this spring they have a clean and classic looking canvas tote bag to add to the mix. While there is pretty much no excuse for Japanese brands not to offer a great canvas bag, and there are many, this one is particularly good looking. I like the subtle pattern on the inside pockets, nice color hits and the nicely finished rivets. An ideal size and perfect in any color.

Waste(twice) Spring Items

—03. French boat shirt.

Words

Japanese brand Waste(twice) look to have another strong collection on their hands. While the brand isn’t one easily accessible for most of us, they continue to grow and thrive in Japan. These are a handful of the spring items that I particularly like.

Laco Beobachter Uhr

01

Images

—01. Close up.
—02. Leather strap.

Words

I’m in need of a wristwatch. Fishing my phone out of my pocket to check the time is definitely getting tiresome, not to mention a bit a dangerous while riding my bike. When it comes to watches, for me it’s all about simplicity and readability so In the past I’ve worn the usual cheap classics like Casio and Swatch. But they’ve always felt disposable stop-gaps. I’d rather invest in something that’ll be with me for a long time and feel like it too. Obviously a more renowned watch like Bell & Ross or Rolex would be nice but Laco is a more realistic price range. The Beobachter Uhr or Observer Watch is basically ideal to me, a nice simple face devoid of branding with a leather strap. I prefer the smaller size of the Series 0 versions and for me the brown strap with olive face is a bit more interesting than a more standard black/black. It’s a great looking watch with an interesting history and something that could quite easily be in a family forever.
