Heller's Cafe 1930s Duck Print Field Jacket

01

Images

01. Corduroy collar.
02. Olive interior.

Words

This Heller’s Cafe piece, based on 1930s references from Larry McKaughan’s acclaimed vintage collection, looks like a hunting jacket mixed with the classic American coaches style. The details, which include an interesting diagonal print, a rounded corduroy collar and leather reinforced pockets, are impressive too, thanks as ever to the reproduction masters at Warehouse.

Sanca Satin Field Jacket

01

Images

01. Four front pockets with concealed buttons.
02. Two piece sleeves with button cuffs.

Words

Although it's been around since 2007, Sanca is one of those brands that is still disappointingly underrepresented outside of Japan. Thankfully, The Garbstore is buying the line and one of the items they've selected is this mid-weight cotton field jacket, featuring twin needle topstitching and a personal favourite design detail of mine: useful oversized pockets.

Stevenson Overall Co. Comfortable Revolver Shirt

01

Image

01. Woolen beaver cloth.

Words

This black melton shirt by Stevenson Overall Co. is a subtle stroke of genius. Featuring chunky Native American concho buttons and felled side seams, the casual staple is made in Japan from a soft woolen fabric known as beaver cloth, which was originally produced in England to resemble the animal's felted fur.

Our Legacy SS16 'Syndrome' Collection

Info

Photography: Erik Wåhlström
Art Direction: Andreas Doré

Words

The latest collection from Our Legacy, entitled 'Syndrome,' plays off a series of different ideas: the fleeting attraction to a piece of clothing found while traveling; the contrast between casualwear and uniform, and how they intersect; and the mix of extreme utilitarian detailing on light 'soft' styles that bear a borderline feminine aesthetic. The accompanying lookbook, shot by Erik Wåhlström and art directed by Andreas Doré, is one of the best from the Swedish brand, using a combination of colour and black and white imagery to illustrate these themes beautifully.

01-02. Photographs by Yannis Vlamos.

Words

The Margaret Howell Autumn-Winter '16 men's collection was presented at the brand's Wigmore Street store in London today. A mix of mainline and MHL pieces combined to create an effortless balance between the tailored and utilitarian styles that often define each label. Highlights included six-button double breasted jackets, long belted Mackintosh coats, and Dainite-soled Chelsea boots, while two-tone silk scarves and high-waisted cropped trousers formed a consistent thread throughout. Wacko Maria Drunkard's Dream Shirt

01

Images

01. 100% cotton.
02. Chain stitch embroidery.

Words

A mechanic’s work shirt just this shade of green, often to be found in vintage stores, is something I’ve always kept an eye out for. This one, offered by Wacko Maria, raises the level a little bit with a mix of bold chain stitching and subtle stamped branding. The back is especially good, presenting the Japanese brand’s continual music references in a beautiful bowling-cum-filling station script. It's a great piece, even if you don’t like green as much as I do and want to play it safe with the black or navy version.
